I have several years experience correcting paint and applying protective coatings so when it came time to protect my latest investment (2016 F150) I knew a paint correction and ceramic coating were in order. I've always been a fan of Larry's method and his products so I decided to give Reflex Pro a shot, and I'm very pleased with he results! I reached out to Larry to get the lowdown on using his coating and he was incredibly helpful! I love the fact that he responds to emails and offers that personal touch to the experience. That's something hard to find these days and one of the biggest perks of supporting small businesses!!!
After purchasing all the supplies I did a thorough prep wash followed by claying the paint. After the truck was dry I did a single step correction using Rupes DA-fine polish and DA-fine yellow foam pads which resulted in a ~70% correction. I was happy with the results since this truck is my daily driver and not a show car. I used Gtechniq Panel Wipe as my panel prep spray which does a fantastic job of removing any remaining oils from the polishing process and leaves the paint in a perfect state to coat. I followed Larry's instructions working in 2x2 sections, waiting for the coating to flash, then removing with the two towel method (first towel to level, second towel to buff). The two towel method really helps reduce the likelihood of high spots. I let the coating cure indoors for 24hrs and didn't wash the truck for 5 days following the application. After the first wash I applied Reflex Pro Top Coat and the results are nuts... the gloss is crazy! My truck looks fantastic!
In the world of coatings, Reflex Pro is great since it's easy to apply, yields great results and is more forgiving to work with compared to some other brands I've used. The last thing I'll mention is the hydrophobic properties; there are two arguments regarding beading vs. sheeting and which is better. I personally think beading is more "fun" (while washing, etc) but I recognize the advantage of sheeting for removing dirt, etc. Reflex Pro is a happy medium between the two since it beads well but doesn't bead as crazy as some other coatings I've seen. 10/10 would recommend. I'm excited to apply this coating to more vehicles in the future.
